The Lakers "Plan" (based off of rumors)

[Before the trade deadline]

Rumor: 76ers shopping Michael Carter-Williams, asking price is high
THE TRADE:
Lakers-76ers-Spurs
Lakers Receive: Michael Carter-Williams
76ers Receive: Julius Randle, Jeremy Lin, 3M cash (Lakers), 2017 first (Spurs)
Spurs Receive: Andrei Kirilenko

Rumor: Kings are shopping Nik Stauskas for a compliment big man along Demarcus Cousins
THE TRADE:
Lakers-Kings
Lakers Receive: Nik Stauskas
Kings Receive: Ed Davis, 2015 first (Lakers via Houston)

Lakers WILL NOT lose enough to be a top 5 lottery pick team, thus they will NOT have any first round picks.

[2015 Draft]

via Clippers 2nd Round: Keifer Sykes (point guard)

[Offseason]

Pick up options:
-Jordan Clarkson
-Jordan Hill
-Tarik Black
-Robert Sacre
(all contracts total near 11-12M)

Sign:
-Robin Lopez (approx. 21M, 3Y)
-Tobias Harris (approx. 56M, 4Y)
-Roscoe Smith (approx. 2M, 2Y)
(all contracts total near 23-25M)

PG: Michael Carter-Williams/Jordan Clarkson/Keifer Sykes
SG: Kobe Bryant/Nik Stauskas
SF: Tobias Harris/Nick Young/Roscoe Smith
PF: Tarik Black/Ryan Kelly
C: Robin Lopez/Jordan Hill/Robert Sacre

MCW/Harris future > Randle/non-guaranteed draft pick
Established stars that are young are way better than Randle coming off an injury and waiting for development. That way, when Kobe comes off the books, the Lakers can tie their team together with a Demar Derozan, Terrence Ross, Bradley Beal SG

1.) MCW is not worth that much. His ft and fg percentage as well as his high turnover rate speaks to how inefficient MCW really is. 76ers may be selling high but no team will be buying high. He is statistical worst this year in almost every category and hasn't shown any improvement to his game. Randle has star potential but the same cannot be said about MCW because too many flaws exist in his game I mean why would the 76ers who are awful be willing to give up such a young player? MCW has a lot of work he has to do before he can become a great player because the numbers he put up my look great but they don't tell the whole story. Sorta like system quarterbacks

2.) Why would sixers want randle day just drafted and handle not going no where and lakers would lose at this rate they would be 4th worst

Lakers Active Roster + Season averages
-Carlos Boozer (13ppg 7rpg, cannot be traded)
-Kobe Bryant (25ppg 5rpg 4 apg, not going to be traded)
-Jordan Clarkson (4.5 ppg 1 rpg)
-Ed Davis (6ppg 7rpg)
-Wayne Ellington (6ppg 2rpg)
-Ronnie Price (3ppg 3 apg)
-Jeremy Lin (10ppg 2rpg 4.8apg)
-Jordan Hill (12.8ppg 8rpg)
-Wesley Johnson (8ppg 3rpg)
-Robert Sacre (4ppg 2rpg)
-Nick Young (15ppg 2rpg)

Lakers mid-season trade:
-Ed Davis, Clippers 2nd round pick to CLEVELAND (lacks interior defense), for Brendan Haywood and their 2015 first via Memphis (1-5 protected, 15-30 protected-Cleveland will not be a lottery team 6-14 in order to keep this pick. They will lose it for nothing or they can trade it to a possible lottery team like the Lakers in exchange for a useful player)

Lakers 2015 Draft:
The team will not be bad enough to keep their top 5 protected, but they should be able to keep the Cleveland pick and fall in the 6-14 range in the lottery. Hypothetically speaking, let's just say they're able to get a pick 6-8.
-Draft: Stanley Johnson

Lakers 2015 Offseason:
-Roy Hibbert (4y, 60m ~ similar to current salary)
-Goran Dragic (3y, 24m ~ 1m more than this season)
-Wayne Ellington (2y, 2.5m)
-Steve Blake(2y, 4m)

Lakers pick up contract options on:
-Jordan Hill
-Jordan Clarkson
-Robert Sacre

Salary: 66m

PG: Goran Dragic/Steve Blake
SG: Kobe Bryant/Wayne Ellington/Jordan Clarkson
SF: Stanley Johnson/Nick Young
PF: Jordan Hill/Julius Randle/Ryan Kelly
C: Roy Hibbert/Robert Sacre

Not sure if a guaranteed playoff team in the west, however it is a competitive team and a better defensive team than the current. They can remain a .500 team and when Kobe's 24 million comes off the books, there is room to sign: Demar Derozan, Bradely Beal, Lance Stevenson, Dion Waiters possible max shooting guard replacement for Kobe or move Goran over to the 2 and bring in Mike Conley for the max.

1.) We really need to hang on to Ed Davis unless he is part of a big deal getting LA someone very good because the Lakers will likely want to resign him for next year. Also, why trade for that Cleveland/Memphis first round pick when both Cleveland and Memphis have very good records that will likely result in a pick that is 15-30 so LA would be giving up Ed Davis for nothing.

Why sign Roy Hibbert for $15 million when Jordan Hill has better statistics and is younger for $9 million?

Goran Dragic is opting out of his contract because he knows he can at the least get $13 million on the open market.

I thought I was the only one who thought the Lakers should go after Embiid, but it appears that I am not, however I have a better explanation as to why:

After this season, the 76ers will have 4 lottery picks: Nerlens Noel, Michael Carter-Williams, Joel Embiis, and their 2015 pick. They will not be able to afford all 4 of these picks, assuming they all become really good players. We all witnessed this with OKC; they traded Jeff Green, traded Harden in a S&T, and they're left with Westbrook and Durant (not bad) but you see they could not keep their core. Noel is already seasoning himself as a center and the 76ers shouldn't inquire on keeping two injury prone centers. One is enough. Noel-Carter-Williams is possibly a future all-star duo, especially in the East. Embed should be expendable and they should get offers now.

Lakers-76ers (before the deadline)
TRADE: Lakers trade Jordan Hill (team option, could play PF next to Noel), Jordan Clarkson (a sacrifice), and a future 1st round pick for Joel Embiid.

Lakers should be even worse if they make this trade before the deadline, guarantying them a top 5 pick. If available DRAFT: Stanley Johnson (for his athleticism and wing defense, ability to switch on the 2-3)
DRAFT (with Rockets late 1st round pick): Andrew Harrison

In the 2015 offseason, re-sign:
-Jeremy Lin
-Ed Davis

In the 2015 offseason, sign:
-Rajon Rondo (max)
-Iman Shumpert (make offer)
-Thomas Robinson (cheap)
-Quincy Miller (cheap)

PG: Rajon Rondo/Jeremy Lin/(Shump)
SG: Kobe Bryant/Iman Shumpert/Andrew Harrison
SF: Stanley Johnson/Nick Young/Quincy Miller
PF: Julius Randle/Thomas Robinson/Ryan Kelly
C: Joel Embiid/Ed Davis/Sacre

1.) Ideal move for the Lakers to contend next season.

2.) Love this but not sure that Lakers have a 1st round pick of their own to trade? If they did, then perhaps Hill, LA future 1st, Houston's 1st, and Clarkson

3.) You even make the lakers worst. that's a stupid trade, you sign kobe for 2 yr deal maximum contract and promised your nba superstar a playoff caliber lineup and then you after 1 losing season, your made your starting 5 with 3-two yr old player. LOL that's the biggest JOKE if you are talking about making the playoff!
