I would appreciate if some of you fans tell me why you love Russell so much. I'll tell you why he is my least favorite player on this Lakers team:
-lack of competing (effort/heart)
-defense is flat out sad
These are things that you don't get to say "it's only his second year" to EXCUSE his effort/play. Inconsistency, I understand cause he's 21, shots don't always fall, and getting benched while playing decent is weird but that does not give him the right to play like a bum.

Anyway...
-draft Ball at 2, trade Russell + Deng + 25-28 pick for the Kings 8th pick + Aaron Afflalo...draft Malik Monk w 8th pick
-waive Afflalo's non guaranteed contract
--Thabo Sefolosha (2y, 20m) - defense
--Tyler Ennis (re-sign) - just a "there" guy
--Larry Nance Jr (extend)
--Ivica Zubac (extend)
--David Nwaba (re-sign: 2y, 1.5m)

Bring in Matt Henry assistant coach from St. Peter's (Great basketball IQ, good at evaluating talent, saint peters has a top defense in college ball).

PG: Ball/Clarkson/Ennis
SG: Sefolosha/Monk/Nwaba
SF: Ingram/Brewer/undrafted player
PF: Randle/Nance Jr/Black
C: Zubac/Mozgov

-I believe in ingram's ability to make a leap next season: he will work out with Kobe, he will more than likely play in summer league again, he will gain weight. He will have many opportunities to develop this summer.
-I believe that Randle will take his game to another level in a contract year
-Monk can move into the starting lineup and be a great scorer next to Ball.

Lets keep it real about D'Anglo Russell. I understand your points he is inconsistent, bad defense and lacks effort on the defensive end. However there are some points you and other people who don't like Russell have to understand. First its not just Russell but the whole team. The team is lacking allstar talent. The team also knows that its not making the playoffs and the organization has given up on this year. Example with benching Mozgov and Deng plus trading Williams. So the effort isn't going to be 100%. Now as far as trade people have to realize that the Lakers aren't going to get top value in return for just Russell. If people think that the Bulls will trade Butler or Pacer trade George for just Russell that's crazy thinking. I keep reading Drummond for Russell and Mozgov. I don't think the Pistons want either of them. They already have Jackson. I see Russell and Mozgov for Lopez. I am unsure if the Nets even what Mozgov's contract let alone Russell being that they have to take both. It's a tough sell when your not going to get equal value in return. We don't want to see this team take a step back with trading Russell for nothing good. Cause keep in mind he's still doing well on the offensive end and has potential to improve. We are looking at 3 more years til any kind of allstar level if he even makes the team. Look Kemba Walker and Gordon Hayward awhile who made it this season the first time.
